Gaia Shasta Hotel Now Operated by Hostmark Hospitality

SCHAUMBURG, ILL.—Hostmark Hospitality Group has been named the management company of Gaia Shasta Hotel and Spa, a LEED-certified eco-friendly resort property located near Mount Shasta in the Cascade Mountains of Northern California. Hostmark has been retained by the court-appointed trustee in bankruptcy.

“We expect complete operational stability moving forward, and all associates of the Gaia Shasta Hotel are being retained,” said L.W. ‘Biff’ Hawkey, Hostmark senior vice president of development. “Honored by the trust placed in us as stewards of the hotel’s green operating systems, we plan to ensure that the vision of the owners is accomplished as we promote superior guest service.”

Gaia takes its name from the Greek term for “Mother Earth” and employs a progressive approach to environmental sustainability. The hotel utilizes tubular skylights to provide natural lighting, recycled materials for building elements from carpeting to bathroom tiles, and water-saving features throughout the property, even extending to the native, drought-resistant landscaping that beautifies the property’s 9.8 acre site.

The Gaia Shasta Hotel and Spa offers travelers upscale, resort-style accommodations close to Northern California’s national parks and recreational areas. The property’s 120 guestrooms and suites feature spacious work areas, upscale amenities and private patios with views over the Sacramento River, the surrounding wooded areas or the property’s swan lagoon and fountains. The hotel offers regional cuisine with an emphasis on sustainability at the on-site Woodside Grill, as well as customized treatments at the full-service Lotus Spa located on the property.
